What Actually Drives Us Angry?

The arrogant boss, the clerks with awful attitude, the idiots who always screw up something …

There must be something IRRITATING you.

How do you deal with your terrible mood?

Some people can’t help giving them a fist (maybe several fists), others may vent secretly, and still others shout madly. 



HOWEVER, do these skills really relieve your anger?


Brad Bushman, a psychologist of The University of Iowa, conducted an experiment. He chose some students randomly. Next, he asked them to write articles. However, Bushman gave students awful grades and wrote something insulting on their writings to enrage them. Of course, the students were mad. Then Bushman divided them into two. He let one group hit the sandbags and think of the person who had graded them bad. As for another group, he called them to sit in the room. 




An hour later, Bushman had the students play the game. People who won the game could make noise to the loser. (In fact, the loser DID NOT exist. Bushman always let the players won in the second time.) He found out that people who had hit the sandbags were more offensive. They made much louder noise than those sat mildly.

He inferred that OUR BEHAVIORS influence our mind. Therefore, when you vent on something, your brain considers that you are angry.


Next time when you are in a rage, STOPPING using violence. Violence just makes you more furious.

    Cauz I'm one of those people who think using violent methods can ease our anger, I used to punch the wall, shout my brother(er....) or rip papers( ARGHHH!!).
    Maybe I can try to get some nice naps next time when I get mad XP

      I used to ease my anger by hitting my younger brother or shout at someone like you. However, I was astonished when I saw the research. So I tried to calm down , write down my anger in the paper and throw it away from then on. It really works!!

      I never thought of writing down my anger, perhaps that's the reason why I haven't find any effective way to soothe my emotion :P

  3. haha anger is people's normal performance,i think the role in the cartoon is really interesting and it make me fun haha.
