Clothing Psychology

On uniform day, many students in college put on their own uniforms, forming a special view in campus.

Wearing a high school uniform, I feel that I am more energetic and naive as if I were still young~~ (Joyous)

(Put off the uniform and wear the casual clothes.)
Ok, let’s discuss why do the clothes bring people such dramatic changes in our mind? (Sober)

Research showed that a small change in our dressing causes a huge influence on impression of others. In one research, a psychology pretended a market researcher. Sometimes he interviewed passersby with a tie, while sometimes he didn’t. He found out that when he wore a tie, about 90% of strangers accepted the survey. However, only 30% of walkers were willing to accept his requirement while he didn’t wear a tie.

Besides, psychologist Mark Frank discovered that clothing also changes our personality. He noticed that in the hockey game, players with black clothes tended to warm the bench (坐冷板凳) because of breaking the rules.

Therefore, he designed a weird experiment. He divided subjects into two groups randomly. One group put on black t-shirts, another group put on white t-shirts. Then Frank provided subjects a game list. Study pointed out that those in black t-shirts were inclined to choose violent games. However, those in with white t-shirts usually select placid games. It means that black clothes make people aggressive.

Therefore, be careful to the person with black clothes beside you. Maybe he or she hit you with a hockey stick. (?)

    1. You can check this website. There is much information about the symbol of colors. :-)

  3. This is so cool!!XD
I remember there is another experiment testing on how people shake hands can influence the others' judgement for them. I suppose that they have common principles?

    1. Ha ha, I am glad that you like my article.
Yes, their principles are similar. Shaking one's hand hard resembles wearing black clothes. Both of them convey people that you are aggressive and tough.

  4. I'm very surprised! I used to think that it is red that makes people more aggressive! So why don't they use black for bullfighting in Spain? XD
It's too bad that the PE uniform in my high school was white, maybe it was the reason that made us less energetic and sleepy... :p
By the way, though ties can make a person looks more professional, Sherlock once said that he insisted NOT wearing them...( I highly suspect that it was because that he didn't know how to wear a tie)

    1. Red leaves more positive impression on people than black. If you want to show your enthusiasm and energy, you can wear red clothes.
In fact, bulls can't differentiate colors. They are excited about the swinging cloth. :-)
Ha ha ha, I am curious about your PE class in senior high. Why do you want to sleep when running or jumping? XDD
BTW, it is good if thinking in another way. A group of girls scream, pull hair of each other or throw ball toward other face seems horrible and out of control. XDDD
Ha ha ha, I agree your suspicion. But I think Sherlock should not reject the tie so much. John can wear it for him. XDDD

    3. Umm... so sad those bulls can't see any colors...
Well, when you're really, really tired, for instance, after running for 1 km, you'd probably fell asleep. (?)
Er, actually my amazing classmates often played basketball like fighting when they were in great pressure. XD
Oh no you make me start to think of the scene about John helping Sherlock wear the tie... arghhh stop it!!!

  5. Wow~ So that is how it is.
I ever thought that clothes may change one's mood because of his habit.
But the experiment told us everyone may be aggressive in black cloth!!
    It's so interesting><
